It's a Sleepover!

Recently we had our niece Maddie over for a sleepover.  Lila and Sophia were beside themselves with excitement and were counting down for at least 2 weeks.  Lila had pretty high expectations of things that needed to get done at the sleepover so I really had some work to do!  The first thing that was very important was a treasure hunt.  My girls are really into Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  I decided to really do up the treasure hunt with different activities and treasures.  It was soooooo much fun!  In fact, the next morning they asked to do another one!  Since it took awhile to plan the first one, the second one will have to wait a bit.  Check it out:
I hid clues throughout the house.  I should have taken pictures of my clues but didn't....  I used a lot of rhyming words and the girls had to use clues from within the clues to figure out where to go next.  I think leading to this one it said : for the next clue you don't have to go far, look underneath Barbie's pink _____.

The clue told them that they had to crawl up to the next clue which they could find under a rug somewhere.
They found the clue under the rug in my room.  That clue told them to look for the next clue where you lay your head when you are tired.  They ran around checking all the pillows in the rooms.

Maddie found something special under the pillow.  I had 3 white pillowcases and fabric markers under the pillow.  The clue said that they had to decorate the pillowcases before they could get the next clue.

What fun!

They were all discussing what to draw.

Sometimes I had to stretch out the fabric to make it easier to write.

Phia's case
My girls use their pillowcases every night.  They love them.  The nice thing is that we can always add more drawings when I need a quick activity to do!  On to the next clue.... It said something about looking in a place you go to get clean (only in rhyming words:).   Down to the shower downstairs...
Found the clue!  AND glow sticks!  Yay!

Who doesn't need a magical glow stick on a treasure hunt?!
The next clue was by a source of light.....(lamp)  They checked all lights until they found the next clue.
Found the clue with glow in the dark stars.  The girls had to decorate Lila and Sophia's rooms with the objects to get the next clue.  Maddie got to take hers home.

The next clue sent them digging through boxes of their toys.....

They found the last clue AND stuff to make smores with.
The final clue told them that the treasure was somewhere in Sophia's room.  Notice how I have them running up and down stairs?  lol
Where should you look?

"Hey Maddie, will you look in the closet?"  lol not sure what she thought might be in there

Found it!

Showing the girls the treasure chests...

and more importantly, how to tell which one is theirs

These are Melissa and Doug diy treasure kits

Oh my!  It is filled with "treasure"!  Thank goodness that St. Patrick's Day is around the corner.  I found the chocolate coins in the dollar section at Target (the glow sticks and stars too).

Decorating the treasure chests

Later we lite the fire place and made some smores.  Lila had been talking about it for weeks and then didn't even want to try them....

We're ready!

At least someone besides me and Juan ate one!

At lastly, we introduced Maddie to our favorite movie these days....Beauty and the Beast.
Matching jammies and cheese popcorn!

Cruising the strips:).....

We had our friend, Jackson, over to play and decided to do some activities that would appeal to him more than princesses or barbies (although he enjoyed those too).  The first thing that we did was create a road using sentence strips that I had from when I was teaching.  We created bridges, loops, and straight roads by taping the sentence strips to the floor.  I drew dotted lines on the strips to create the look of a street.  The kids then built a gas station, school, stores, etc along the sides of the roads.  They then took some cars and went driving around town!
Discussing the logistics of how to create a driveway to the doll house.

Not too shabby....we kept it up for about 5 days or so.  Thankfully my husband doesn't mind my crazy kid projects all over the house!

Having fun driving cars around the room

Gas station and a silly girl:)

We couldn't possibly forget Rapunzel's tower.....

The park

I think there was some negotiating going on here

What do you want to do next?  ART!  Of course that is the answer.  So we decided to paint with cars!  What fun!  What a mess!!  Lila and Jackson each had special cars that were not allowed to go in paint and they put them up high where Sophia would not touch them!

The set up

And we're off....

How do I get my car back......?

It was only a matter of time.  I thought Sophia would be the first to do it though:)

The finished product!
Two simple activities= 3 hours of entertainment!
